This section of the reading was really interesting to me. It focused on research that showed that babies possess many skills that we do as adults, they are just not as apparent. The main one they focused on was language. The same part of a baby’s brain lights up on an fMRI when listening to someone speak as an adult’s does. They use the same part of their brain to recognize language that adults do. Although they don’t understand what is being said, they do recognize it, and it helps them learn language at a rate faster than almost any other mammal. I hope they talk more about this or things like this, because it is really interesting to read about and manages to draw me in more than other topics have.
